Marcus Pierce Enso Gallery Opening modern art Boise Idaho

The Moire Series all started with Marcus Pierce’s mom. She was a mime and she would take him with her to varies mime seminars. One particular time, they went to one of the famous Marcel Marceau’s. Marceau said that in your craft you should find what is human. This idea resonated with Marcus. It plays a major roll in the Moire Series, contemplating what is human.

This series is a group of individually layered plexiglass portraits sized in proportions to the golden ratio. They are modular and can infinitely nest and build together. Both in form and subject matter, these oil paintings explore human consciousness. They examine our layered selves both internally, as well as externally in their relationship to our network of people.
